Enthusiasm

Last week, I followed tweets from the 2009 Franchise Services Convention in San Diego, CA. (Disclosure – two employees from the company that I work for, interlinkONE, were in attendance)

One of the best tweets I read was a quote from one of the speakers, Vince Lombardi, Jr. Quoting his famous father, he said this: “If you’re not fired with enthusiasm, you will be fired with enthusiasm”.

I read that quote last week, and it’s stuck in my head ever since.

There are a lot of things that can dampen our enthusiasm when it comes to business.

  • We may feel that we are not getting enough done on our to-do-list.
  • We may be tired.
  • We may be jealous that someone else is having fun.
  • We may think there’s a better way to do things.

Okay, I could go on. But that wouldn’t be too productive.

When we face those obstacles, we oftentimes can choose two paths.

  • Be negative about the situation.
  • Find a solution.

Being negative is easy. We have plenty of sounding-boards.

But if we can fight that urge, and enthusiastically help find a solution, we will bring benefits to ourselves, and to a greater group of people.
